GERMANS ATTEMPT TO ESCAPE
A SAMOAN INCIDENT.

AUCKLAND, 19th August.
Three Germans attempted to escape from Samoa in a motor launch, which they seized. Having impressed the services of three natives and laid in provisions, they put to sea, it is believed with the object, of capturing a larger vessel. Tho engines broke down, and the party bad to land at Mulifanua. The Germans were arrested and taken to Apia for trial.
