In appealing for the return of .her son from active service, a mother stated at the Military Service Board to-day that the lad enlisted under age and under an assumed name in order to avoid the fact of his youth being made known to the military authorities. The Chairman (Mr. D. G. A. Cooper): "In view of his determination, to enlist, how axe you going to keep him? Will you tie him to the leg of a table'" "No/ replied the mother, "he has been on active service for three years, and I am sure .ho won't want to go back. I do not mind his doing home service, us long as he is sent back to me."
Common jurors summoned to appear at the Supreme Court to-morrow morning, at 10 o'clock, are notified by advertisement in this issue that thoy will not be required until Saturday morning at the came hour.

Mr. A. T. Trendlo will sell furniture at 1.30 p.m., to-morrow, nt tlio Central Auction Rooms, 53, Cuba-street.
Messrs. 13. Johnston and Co. will soil furniture to-morrow, at 1.30 p.m., in their rooms.
