THOUGHTS OF LEADERS
ENGLAND'S EFFORT
(MOM OCR OWN CORRESPONDENT.)
LONDON, 14th June, lord Beaverbrook, to the Overseas Press Correspondents:—
The overseas press had not vet fully conveyed to the Dominions the efforts of Great) Britain and the extent to which she had poured out her blood and money. She was doing nil that lay b her power to carry out her part in the compact. (Cheers.) In Pitt's time the burden of war fell to a- considerable extent upon fnture generations; but in our time Great Britain had called upon her 1 people to provide, by. means of taxation, 27 per cont. of war expenditure. In no former war had England made such an effort, and yet she still had great reserves. She still held in her hands strength, energy, and power to deliver new and crushing blows. Tho people oversea must fully understand that, and they would not then fall into the delnsion that England's effort was exhausted. We must down Germany, or Germany would down us, and that was the final and unshaken determination of the English-speaking races."
