NEXT SESSION
PROBABLY IN OCTOBER.
When Mr. Massey and Sir Joseph Ward left for England it was understood that they would return in time for a session, to begin , towards the end of September or in October. This anticipation was supported by the following cable message from. London, dated Bfch August :— "The Imperial War Cabinet will conclude next week, and the New Zealand Ministers will sail a week later."
However, on the same day, another cabled summary of a speech by Mr. Lloyd George was received, including this passage : — "Mr. Lloyd George dealt on the valuable aid tho Dominions' representatives, especially the Prime Ministers, had given at the council boards. He recognised the Dominions' anxiety to see the return of their leaders for carrying on their affairs, but lie trusted that jt would be possible for. thorn to remain some time longer, because their presence would be invaluable at grave decisions in reference to the coming winter and next year." Naturally, the minds of the public were exercised by these two reports, of which one gave <in impression that New Zealand's delegates, with others, would be persuaded to prolong their stay, and that the opening of the session here would be delayed.
■ When r this matter was mentioned today to .the Acting-Prime. Minister (Sir James-Allen), he' remarked : "I assume the session will begin some time in October."
