BRITAIN'S HARVEST
AN ENCOURAGING STATEMENT.

LONDON, ilth August.
Mr. (x. N. Barnes (member of the^ War Cabinet), speaking' at Palmer's Green,, said this year's harvest, if used for the purpose of bTead alone, would be sufficient to suffice all needs of the population for forty weeks. He was avvaro that some grain would be used for beer. Ittr. G. H. Bobects,.Minister.for Lab. oiiv, in a speech at Maidstone, epiphasised the importance of increasing home production. Meanwhile with the view of giving security to agriculture, we must make some departure in the fiscal system to which the country had' been attached.
