TRAMWAYS MILITARY BAND.
There was a. big house at His Majesty's Theatre last night, when the Wellington Municipal Tramways Military Band gave another concert. The selections had been chosen with judgment, and the performance was musically a success. Opening with Sousa's tuneful "Stars and Stripes" inarch, which was played with dash, the charming romance, "The Mill Wheel," followed, its soft flowing style contrasting w.ell with the previous and following numbers. Particularly pleasing was the light and and airy dance suite from "Nell Gwynne," in which the light and shade work was nicely defined and not over-emphasised. Suppe's tuneful "Pique Dame" was rendered with tenderness and delicacy. Mr. A. Crump conducted efficiently. The Egoists were Miss Afjnes Richardson,, who sang, "0, Divine .Redeemer" (Gounod) and "An Old-fashioned Town" (Godnrcl); Miss Clarice Buckman, a clear soprano, who rendered "La Serenata" and "Wake Up," with good effect; and Mr. H. F. Wood, the popular tenor, whose numbers, "Rose of Picardy" and the charming waltz song "Destiny," were greatly enjoyed. All were recalled, and again pleased with well-chosen songs. The concert was much appreciated by the large audience, applause being frequent.
The final performance of the successful revue, "The Bing Boys are Here," was given at the- Grand Opera House on Saturday evening. The company left for the South last evening.
