The occupation of Archangel was skilfully prepared, and carried out with complete success, notwithstanding a Bolshevik proclamation, exhorting troops to massacre the Allied subjects. The railway line is now_ clear for sixty-six miles, in spite, of Trotsky's order to destroy it.
