PONEKE v. ORIENTAL.
The Poneke-Oriental game, played on No. 2 ground, was a very tame exhibition, the former team having matters all its own way. Good defence by some of the Oriental backs alone saved a large score from being larger. A feature of the game was the, very poor goal-kicking, as not one of the nine tries scored by the winners/was converted.
In the first spell, Morris (2), Christopherson, and Marks scored tries, and the interval came with Poneke leading by 12 points to nil. ■ King, Troy, Hillyard, Christopherson, and Cbwie were the scorers for Poneko in the second spell, and the game ended with/ the score: Poneke 27, Oriental nil.
