BROOKLYN RIFLE CLUB

The annual general meeting of the Brooklyn N.R. Rifle Club was held at tho range last night, and was well attended. The president (Mr. G. Frost) occupied the chair. In presenting the third annual report, the secretary (Mr. Webb) outlined the work of the club for the previous eighteen months Last year 17 matches were fired off, 15 by A team and two by B team; and 13 we're won and four lost A team winnings 12 and losing three, while B toam won one and loßt one. All the losses were to the one club, Railways. Interest in club competitions is still keen, and the trophies have been added to by ono from Mr. Alabaster as a points prize Cup, and a handsome donation from Messrs. Stockbridge and Bassett. Feeling reference was also made to the valuable work of an old comrade, the late Capt. B. Mollison, M.C., whoso connection with the Brooklyn National Reserve and rifle club had been fully recognised and appreciated. A suggestion had been made that an "Honours Board" might be placed in the range to perpetuate the memory of thoso comrades who had answered the call. Christmas parcels had been sent to members at the front, and correspondence had been received detailing experiences, all of which were of interest to the club. Everything' considered, the membership had been woll maintained, 16 now members having been added to the roll, making 42 in all. From various causes many of the best shots and workers had been lost to tho club, in most cases through removal from the district. An appeal was made to members to endeavour to enrol sufficient numbers to fill the places of thoso called to the colours. The treasurer's (Mr. J. Rose) balance-sheet showed a satisfactory position. A short discussion followed, and suggestions were made for improving tho position of tho club. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Prosid'ent, Mr. G. Frost; vice-presiHonts, Messrs. Perkins, Stockbridgo, Ramsay, Mather, Holcroft, Glenny, Aehton, Fitchett, and Rev. Mr. pent; secretary-treasurer, Mr. Webb; assistant secretary, Mr. Abbott; captain, Mn Jackson; vice-captain, Mr. Alabaster, auditor, Mr. J. Roso; committee, Messrs. Richardson, Bassett, Hunt, Graham, G. Spencer, and Hatch; handicappers, Messrs. Abbott, and Richardson.
