PACIFIC ISLANDS A WAR
QUESTION
(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPYRIGHT.)
(AUSTRALIAN-NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, 12th June.
The agenda list for the Imperial Coitference promises to be a lengthy one. It will include many economic subjects, but will not include the Pacific Islands question, which the War Cabinet will discuss as a war question Mr. Massey (New Zealand) emphasises the fact that th© Dominion representatives share equal responsibility with members of the British Cabinet for the conduct of the war during their, visit. Although the Dominions are permitted two voices they have only one vote, as the Government officially recognises only the Prime Ministers. (Received June 14, 8.30 a.m.) LONDON, 12tb June. The President (Mr. Walter Long)' outlined the programme of work for the Conference, which was as important as that of the last Conferences, whose resolutions would come up for review. Mr. Massoy, .Sir Robert Borden, General Smuts, Mr. Lloyd George, and Mr. Balfour addressed ■the Conference. The first resolution was the assurance of the Empire's loyalty. The Indian representatives have arrived, but the Australians have not. LONDON, 12th June. The Manchester Guarctian says: "Except as regards the war, there are no signsl of any Empire-wide common mind concerning any great question since the la6t Imperial Conference. It isl doubtful whether the idea of centralisation then implanted is at .present capable of any important development." (Received June 14, 10 a.m.) LONDON, 13th June. , Th« Benchers of the Middle Temple have invited the Overseas Premiers to | meet Mr. Eloyd George at, dinner on ; Saturday. ]
