FAILURE OF ENEMY RAIDS

LONDON, 7th June. Mi 1. Percival Phillips says : ''Enemy raids constitute the sole activity on .»o British front, all of which have been lamentable failures. The Australians are heroes as the result of a typical raid. At least two hundred picked German infantry made an expedition against the Australians .south of Morlanconrt. They expected to catch the Australians napping. Their disillusionment could not have been more complete. The Australians took twenty-one prisoners and captured four machine-guns, and twenty-five bodies were counted' in, No Man's Land. Other raids were mad^ north of Lens, north-cast of Hinges, near La Bassee, eastward of Niejppe Forest, and southward of Ypres. All left prisoners in our hands. Only in one place were British kidnapped."
