LADY SWIMMERS' "SOCIAL"
■«. A successful social evening was held by the Ladies' Royal Life-Saving and Amateur Swimming Club on Friday evening, when prizes gained during the season were presented by the president. Dr. Platts-Millfi. In an interesting address Dr. Platts-Mills told two storie6> one illustrating the necessity of being able to swim, and the other the need of knowing how to bring a drowning person to shore and knowing what to do when there. Short addresses were also given by Messrs. D. K. Blair, H. D. Edwards, W. C. Collier (vice-presidents), and A. Mi Farnall (representing the Wellington Amateur Swimming Association). The following are the prize-winners :— Aggregate prize for most points gained during the season, Miss J. Aitken, 34 points. Championship: Miss M. Allen 1, Miss J. Ailcen 2. Breaststroke Championship, Miss J. Aiken 1, like G. Wilkie 2. 250 Yds. Free Style Handicap: Miss M. Allen 1, Miss 1. Rigg 2. . Plate Diving: Miss M. Allen 1, Miss G. Wilkie 2. Towing: Misses J. Aiken and B. Ayling 1. Dive.: Miss J. Aiken 1, Miss M. Hayvice 2. 250 Yds. Breast-stroke Handicap : Miss J. Aiken 1, Miss G. Wilkie 2. 50Yde. Breast-stroke Handicap: Mies J. Post 1. Medley Handicap: Miss N. Edmanson 1, MiEe B. Ayling 2. Carnival Events—so Yds. Ladies' Handicap: Miss D. Donnelly 1, .Miss V. Brodie 2. 50Yds. Girls' Handicap: Miss M. Prince 1, Miss F. Martin 2,. 50Yds. Junior Girls' Breast-stroke Handicap: Miss R. Fullford 1, Miss V. Brodie 2. Dual Relay Race: Miss D. Donnelly and Mr. R. Wakelin 1. Ladiesi Needle Threading Competition: Miss Pv. Fullford 1, Miss D. Donnelly 2. Dive : Miss G. Wilkie 1, Miss O. Arthur 2. The medals for the Wellington school girls' championship were also presented as follow :—Miss J. Post 1, Miss R. Fullford 2. ■ '. Life-saving awards were presented by Mr. W. C. Collier, secretary of the Wellington head centre of the Royal LifeSaving Society, as follow :—Bronze medallions, Misses V. Vaughan and M. Bacon; proficiency and elementary certificates, Misses M. Bacon, R. Fullford, V. Brodie, T. Sales, R. Whyte, R. Hobson, and N. Fenby. A word-building competition was held for the juniors, Miss F. Martin being declared the winner. Games, etc., were also held, and a very pleasant evening was brought to ft close by the singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
