ATTACK ON THE FRENCH LINE

A French communique states : T'aere is artillery activity between the Miette and Aisne Rivers, and also in the Champagne. Artillery fire is somewhat violent on the right bank of the Meuse, and at Parroy Wood. In the Woeuvre, in the region of the Bois. s ßrule, the enemy attacked heavily, but after a stiff fight we ejected parties which had gained a footing in advanced elements of our trenches. Our aeroplanes dropped thirteen tons of bombs behind the enemy lines, and a niimbai- of explosions and two fires were observed.
