SCOTTISH SOCIETY
The opening of the Wellington Scottish, and Pipe Band Society's new hall in. Tory-6treet last night was celebrated by an enjoyable social evening and dance, which wae fairly well attended by members of the society, in spite of the very unfavourable weather conditions. In welcoming members to the new hall—the Foresters' Hall, which has been. renova.t. Ed inside and out—Chief A. : Campbell stressed the fact that now the society was established in a meeting place of its own, instead of being without one, as it had been for some months pact, the executive asked the members to make an earnest endeavour to make. the society something more than an association in name only. In the past the society had done .very little to help along the men at the front, and more especially these who returned, but in the future an effort would be made to do something for those who came back, especially members or rela» tiyes of members of the eociety. The Pipe Band played selections outside- the hall before the commencement of the evening's programme of Scottish; sOnes, music, and dancing, and supper was'dispensed during the evening by the ladies of the society. , '
