POSTHUMOUS AWARD OF ALBERT

MEDAL.

(ABSIRAUAN-NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, 9th March. The Albert Medal Has been awarded Trooper James Werner Magnusson, a New Zealander (Mounted Rifleß). On the occasion of the sinking of a transport he dived into a rough sea and swam to the assistance of an injured soldier, placed him in a boat, and returned to the sinking ship and rejoined his unit. He subsequently lost his life.
