BRAVE NEW ZEALANDERS
POSTHUMOUS AWARD OF ALBERT
MEDAL.
(ABSIRAUAN-NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, 9th March. The Albert Medal Has been awarded Trooper James Werner Magnusson, a New Zealander (Mounted Rifleß). On the occasion of the sinking of a transport he dived into a rough sea and swam to the assistance of an injured soldier, placed him in a boat, and returned to the sinking ship and rejoined his unit. He subsequently lost his life.

Bars to the Military Cross have been awarded to Lieutenant D. R. Murchison, of the New Zealand Mounted Rifles.
