NAPIER, 9th March. The Napier Park Racing Club's second day was held in fine, though showery, weather, and there was a large attendance. The track was heavy, as on the first day. Two enquiries were held during the da.y. Jockey Hatch was cautioned for pulling in in the Kuao Handicap and blocking Oratress, and the second concerned the inconsistent running of Sweet Corn, ridden by Deeleyon each day The judicial stewards expressed much, dissatisfaction with, the running of the horse, and considered it a case in which suspicion attached to the 1 rider. The totalisator handled £19,457, making a total for the two days of £35,787, against £57,612 for the corresponding two days last year. Also started: 4 Almo 9.13, 6 Tavistock 9.7, 1 Sarah Grand 9.5, 7 PuHsefiller 8.12, 5 Mysteriach 8.3, 8 Whakahoki 8.0. Won by a long neck. Time, 2min 2 3-ssec. Maiden Hack Scurry, of 100 soys • five furlongs.—l Lilydale, 9.0, 1; 2 Silver and Black, 9.0, 2; 5 St. Lines, 9.0, 3. Also started : 7 Merry Guest 9.0, 4 Foxglove 9.0, 3 Interesting 9.0, 6 Bell o' the Camp 9.0. Won all the way by a long neck. Time, lmin 6 4-ssec.
>St. Patrick's Handicap, of 150 soys; six furlongs.—2 Sweet Corn, 9.5, 1; 4 Rawakore, 7.6, 2; 1 Elocution, 8.0,3. Also started: 5 Impediment 8.10, 9 Hyttus 8.1, 8 Sea Lord 7.4, 3 Bagdad 6.11, 6 Vermilli6n 6.7, 7 Colonnade 6.7. Won by half a length, with a length and a half between second and third. Time lmin 19 4-Ssec.
Stewards' Hack Welter Handicap, of 120 soys; seven furlongs.—7 Queen Lizzie, 8.1, 1; 3 Kahumangu, 8.7, 2; 1 Polynesian, 9.0, 3. Also started: 4 Hylami 8.12, 9 Powder King 713 2 Torchlight 7.12, 5 Perrier 7.9, 8 Mania 7.6, 6 Sunlight 7.7, 10 Multiplane 7.7 Won by two lengths. Time, lmin 35 4-ssec.
