HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLED REPORT. The Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce lias received the following cablegram, dated London, 9th March, 1918, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand. (Note : Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot) : — Meat.— r Wholesale maximum prices of imported meat Have been raised and are now same as English; mutton and lamb, 13d; beef, 12£ d. Supplies consist chiefly of imported meat. Butter and Cheese.—No change since last report. In active demand, with short supplies. Supplies consist chiefly of Argentine and colonial. No stocks of French, Danish, or Irish on the market. Hemp.—Manila hemp market steady, and fair business doing. New Zealand continues in active demand if shipment has already been -made. Business cannot be done forward shipment. Wheat and Oats.—Market quiet and steady; no change in prices.
