REGULATIONS FOR DEER-SHOOT-ING IN THE COUNTIES OF HUTT AND FEATHERSTON (WAINUI), HOROWHENUA, AND HUTT (PARAPARAUMU), AKITIO, TARARCJA FOREST. RESERVE, AND TAIHAPE. . LIVERPOOL, GoverndV-General. IN pursuance and exercise' of the powers conferred upon me by the Animals Protection Act, 1808 (hereinafter referred to as "the raid Act"), I, Arthur William de Brito Sa-vile, Earl of Liverpool, tho Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby make the fo]-' lowing regulations proscribing ' the deershooting , season in that part of the Welling ton Acclimatisation District described in tho First Schedule hereto, ami further prescribing- the conditions affecting sucli doer-shooting, the form of license, and the fee payable in respect thereof. REGULATIONS. 1 Red-Doer stags and hinds may bo taken or killed within the district described in tho First Schedule hereto from the 29th March, 1918, to the 31st May, 1918 (both days inclusive). • 2. Licenses to take or kill such deer may be issued by the Chief Postmaster at Wellington, or by tho Postmasters at Masterton, Carterton, Feathcrston, Greytown Eketahui i, Pahiatua. Makuri, Pongaroa Palmersttn North. Paraparaumu,' Otaki Taihape, Mangaweka, Lower Hutt, and Shannon, on payment by the licensee of a license fee of £2. Not more than one such license shall be issued.to any one' peison ; Every such license thall be m the form in the. Second Schedule horeto. j o. No licensee under these' regulations shall tako or kill more than two stags, '■ and no stag shall be taken or killed carrying antlers with less than ten points. 4. No licensee shall allow any dog to accompany either himself or any attendant while stalking in. the district to which his, license relates. 5- A.licensee may take two ,hinds in the Wamui area within a lins commencing at the Upper Hutt Railway Station, therco south-east to the Wairarapa Lake at the mouth of Bockstt's-Stri n, thence along the .western shore of the\/airarapa, Lako and the Ruanan^a River to the-' Onoke Lake, thence following the coastline to'Petone, thence in a northerly direction to the point of commencement at the tipper Hutt Railway Station; excluding therefrom the area described in the fourth paragraph of the excluded areas horeunder. 6. Nothing in these regulations or in any license issued thereunder shall be deemod to authorise a licensee to taks or kill any stag or hind in any part of the Wellington Acclimatisation District other than that part to which these regulations apply, or in any other acclimatisation district. ■-■-,■■ 7. Regulations' as to deer "tags," per New Zealand Gazette, No. 40, Vol. 1., of 20th May, 1900, page 1408, shall' be strictly adhered to by each licensee, who in addition, thoreto shall return all unused "tags" to the secretary of the Wellington Acclimatisatio-i Society, Wellington, immediately he has finished stalking for the season for which such "tags" have been issued, together with a statement of the number of deer shot. , 8. Nothing in these regulations shall be deemed to authorise any person to sell any deer or any part thereof. . v 9. Every person who commits,a breach of these regulations is liable, on summary conviction, to a fine not exceeding £20. , FIRST SCHEDULE. DISTRICT TO WHICH LICENSE - , RELATES. All that area commencing at the Onoke Lake, thence. northward along the west: side of tho Wairarapa Lake to Featherston. thence along the railway line to Eketahuna; thtence eastward in a direct line to; the sea at G'astlepoint. thence northward along the coast to the Waimata. River, thence in. a direct line westward to Palmerston North, thence along the .rail-way-lino to . Paokakariki, thence, southward to the sea at Petone. thence alongthe coast to the point of commencement at the Onoke Lake Also all that area within a line commencing at the mouth of tho ICawhatau River, thence westward along the river to its source at the summit of the Ruahine Ranges, thence northward to Motopuha, thence westward to Te Rotoiti, theDce southward to Moawhango, thence to the point of commencement at the mouth of the Kawhatau River. AREAS EXCLUDED THEREFROM. All that area bounded by a line commencing) at Mount Holdsworth, thence south-west to the Upper Hutt Railway Station,: thenco ■ south-east to the Wairarapa Lake at. the mouth of Beckett's Stream, therice along the shore of the lake to its north-eastern end, thence northeast to Carterton, thence north-west to Mount Holdsworth, the point of. commencement. ' . The area within a line-, commencing at the j unction .of the railway line with the Otaki River, thenco following up the river to a point opposite Mount Crawford on the Tararua Ranges, thence in a direct line to Mount Crawford, thence north to Mount Dundas, thence north to Mount Te Paki, thenco in a north-westerly direction to Shannon, thence along ' rail-way-line- ' southward to the point of commencement. .. '„' ■ : ti All that piece of land containing 500 acres, being Section 16, Block' 1., Akatarawa; Survey District, which land is shown as an acclimatisation reserve on the provisional plan of the Hutt County in the Crown Lands Office at Wellington. Also all that piece of land containing 6500 acres being parts of Blocks VIII., IX., X., and XVIL, Rimutaka Surrey District, and shown on the Crown. Lands provisional map. of the Hutt County as a timber and water reserve (the said "laud being the catchment area for the Wellington City Council's reservoir situated at Wainuiomata). SECOND SCHEDULE. . No. License to take or kill Red-deer Stags. I i ,of . having, this day paid the sum of, £2, is hereby authorised to take or kill two red-deer.stags, of not less than 1 ten points, within that part of the Wellington Acclimatisation District described in the endorsement hereon, from the . ■ , 1918. to the ■ •■ , 1918 (both, days inclusive). This license is issued subject to the provisions of the Animals, Protection Act, 1908, and to the regulations thereunder in force within the said part of tho Wellington Acclimatisation' District. ■ . Also that area within a line commencing at the mouth of the Kawhatau ' River, thence westward along -the river to its' source at the summit of the Ruahine Ranges, thence northward to Motopuha, thence westward to To Rotoiti, thence southward to Moawhango, thence to the point of commencement at.the mouth of tho Kawhatau River.
