SPANISH ELECTIONS
SOCIALIST AND REPUBLICAN GROUPS DEFEATED EFFECT OF GERMAN PROPAGANDA. CAUS. AND N.Z. CABLE ASSN. AND IIEUIER.) MADRID, 26th February. The results of the elections approximately include 170 Liberals, foreshadowing a Cabinet of Liberal concentration, with the probable support of 85 Conservatives. (REDTER'S TELEGRAH.I MADRID, 27th February. The elections were a great surprise. The, Socialists and .Republicans have almost disappeared. The Monarchist parties, comprising the Liberals and Conservatives of various groups, secured 500 seats. It 'is impossible to predict the effect on'foreign policy. (AUSTRALrAN-NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, 26th February. Madrid advices state that the Monarchist victories at the election are largely • attributable to German money. Even Signor Lerroux, the Barcelona Republican, and Dr. Alvarez, the Reformist leader, were defeated.
