ASSAULT CASES

Lengthy evidence was considered by Mr. S. E. M'Carthy, S.M;, at:the Magistrate's Court to-day in a rather complicated ■ assault case. Three men, B. Dally, W. H. Taylor, and T. H. Brady, were concerned: Mr. H. J. Luke appeared for the first two men named, and Brady was represented by Mr. H. F. O'Leary. On the night of *sth FebruaryBrady assaulted Taylor under provocation, and on the following night Taylor, Dally, and another attacked Brady,' who was roughly handled. The Magistrate held 'that Brady's attack on Taylor was justified by the provocation given, but that the second assault was deliberately made without' provocation. Taylor and Dally were each fined £10, and costs. The charge against Brady in respect to the first assault was dismissed.
