N.Z. NURSES' HOME AT BRIGHTON
Writing to the Minister of Defence from London, under date 14-th December, Colonel W. H. Parks, D.D.M.S., says :— "You will lie interested to know that the New Zealand Officers' Convalescent Homes, are more than ever appreciated, and the congenial air and. surroundings at Brighton are a groat factor in the satisfactory recovery of our patients. A. convalescent hospital and home for New Zealand nurses is about to be opened at Hove, Brighton, in place of the hjjne at Sandwich, which, has been rendered untenable owing to the frequent visits of enemy aircraft. Although very comfortable and beautifully situated, ife is obvious that a home in an area where the inhabitants are subject to a continued state of nerve tension does not conduce to the restfulness which, after all, is so important for nurses suffering from overwork. There was no option, therefore, but to quit the locality. The rest home at Barnstaple, in North Devon, kindly lent by Lady Williams, is no longer available, owing' to the death at the war of her only son, by which event the property passes into other hands. A "voTy suitable house has been taken at Brighton, which trill be equal to all requirements for the nurses, and in every way the move will be advantageous."
