In the Supreme Court to-day before Mr. Justice Chapman and a common jury of twelve, Beuth and Co., Ltd., drapers, of Christchurch, claimed £1000 damages for alleged libel from Maurice Goldaborough (journalist, Wellington), Frederick James Dawson (publisher, Wellington), and the John Bull Newspaper Proprietary Co. (Wellington), for publishing ail article in John Bull's Register of 16th July last, ■which, it was claimed, falsely and maliciously misrepresented, facts as to the origin of the plaintiff: company's capital and the nationality of its shareholders. After an hour's retirement, the jury returned <vith a verdict for one farthing damages. The question of costs was reserved.
