Despite the statement of the managingdirector of the Huddart-Parker Company: that he knew nothing regarding the persistent rumours of the proposed amalgamation of his company with the Howard! §mith Company, and possibly the Adelaide Steamship Company, there is a keen demand, Including New Zealand orders, both in Sydney and Melbourne for these companies' share* at enhanced rates. Buyers of Huddart's offered 395, but sellers wanted 455.
