LODGE MEETINGS
Ihe last meeting of the Excelsior Lodge of Druids was presided over by the Arch Druid,' Bro. A. L. Davies, and was weU attended. The business was of a routine nature, and the lodge closed early in consequence of the ladies' evening, which was to follow. . The hall was packed with members, their wives, and friendß. Bro. Davies, A.D., extended a hearty .welcome, and a splendid programme of vocal and instrumental items was gone through. The following ladies and ' gentlemen contributed:—Misses M'Laughlin (2), Arnold, M'Carthy, and Moylan, and Messrs: Alf. ' M'Donald, Burnett, and Bros. Moylan, N. J ' Edwards, E. Musso, F. Bedell, and F. Harlen. The accompanists were Bros. E. J. King and W. M'Laughlin. A capable orchestra undr Air. W. M'Laughlin played some, c. /able- items during the evening. The entering arrangements were in tlie hand's of Bro. A. Tyson, and were much appreciated. P.D.P. Bro. ;J. Johnston thanked the performers and visitors, and gave a short address on the benefits of Druidism eenerally.
An indication of the successful /work of Sister Atkinson and Bro. Price in the cause of Good Templary was evidenced at the Donald M'Lean-street Schoolroom, Newtown, on Wednesday evening last, when the new senior Temple, "Victory" No. 2, was instituted. The ceremony was performed by Bro. W. J. Trevithick, -D.S.J. The Temple was instituted by the authority of the Grand Lodge of New Zealand, and twenty charter members were initiated, into tho new Order. The election and installation of its officers for the present quarter then followed, the D.S.J. being the installing officer. The respective officers were as follow:— C.T., Sister E. Rouse; V.T., Sister E. M'Caw; 'Secretary, Sister L. M'Cauley; Financial Secretory, Sister ,V. Leer; Treasurer, Sister -Atwodd ; P.C.T., Sister Harrison; ■ Chapter, Sister L; . Leer; Guard, Bro. D. Hocking; Sentinel, Sister A. M'Caw; Marshal, Bro. Leslie Clark; Deputy-Marshal, Bro. J. Rouse; Pianiste, Sister M. M'Cauley; Registrar,' Sister D. Hedderwick. A very instructive address was given by the Grand Lodge Secretary (Bro. George Petherick), who congratulated the Siip.eriritendants and the energetic band of workers on behalf of the Grand Lodge, and. hoped in the ■ near future a very strong subordinate lodge would result.
