PARAMOUNT THEATRE.

The Douglas Fairbanks picture, "Down to Earth," has achieved a great success at the Paramount Theatre. It is claimed to be Fairbanks's best production, and it is certainly a good one, full of hearty laughs. The escapades of the leading player are distinctly amusing, and there are many humorous situations. ;This picture, with other items in an excellent programme, will be screened for the last time to-night. To-morrow there will be a triple programme. First there will be "The .Varmint,"' featuring Jack Pickford. The picture is a dramatisation of Owen Johnston's well-known story of love, youth, boarding-school, and the making of a man. Jack Pickford's- work is favourably known to picture-theatre patrons, and in this production the young actor if said to eclipse all previous performances. The scenes and settings have evidently received special attention. The second of the attractions is the first Mack Semiett comedy to he shown in New Zealand. It is entitled "The Pullman Bride," and, according to the claims made by the producers, strikes a new note in comedy work, intensely, humorous, and calculated to dispel the heaviest gloom. The third attraction, which will probably rank first in the estimation of many people,' is also the first of a new series. It is one of the famous Burton Holmes travelogues, and is entitled "West Point, the Gibraltar of the Hudson," describing the site arid surroundings of the United States Military Academy.
