OPENING OF DISPERSAL SALE.

HASTINGS, 28th January. The Karamu stud dispersal sale opened to-day. There was a large attendance of buyers, and satisfactory prices were realised. , ' '
In brood mares the highest price obtained was 600gns" for Straga, dam of Hymesti-a, purchased by W. Cooper, Masterton. The' next highest, was for Sinvis, purchased by F. Ormond, for loOgns.
In stallions, King Mark Was purchased by J. Ormond for 400gns; Hymettus by W. Cooper, "Masterton, for 325gns; Birkdale by H. A. Russell, Hastings, for ISOghs.' . ■ ■ • A bay gelding, 6yrs,: was purchased by H. M. Campbell for 200gns, and a. bay mare, 4yrs, was purchased by Mr. Higgins for 140gns. . A bay gelding, Aldwych, realised 170gns, and was purchased; by Mr. M''La,ughlin; a filly by Demosthenes—Temerine brought 160gns, purchased by ~SI Barrow; a two-year-old filly by Demosthenes—Marty, 180gns, purchased by W. J. Douglas.-;' The top price in yearlings was for a 'Hymettus —Strega filly, 400gns, purchased by A. M'Donald, oMasterton.
