SUNSHINE AND RAIN
j 'Blue skies and a cool breeze made yesterday an ideal day for picnickers. Many Wellingtonians realised this fact, and made the most of the day by going to j the seaside or out into the country. One i of"; the most popular resorts yesterday , vi&s Eastbourne, -and some 3000 people , travelled across the harbour, arid an j added attraction to the outing was the 'presence of the Waterside Workers' Band. j O^her seaside resorts, especially Lyall I Bay, were also well patronised, and the i trams were crowded during the greater J part of the afternoon. ■ ;To-day tho conditions' are warm and jhumid. It has been•• unpleasantly hot, Land was particularly depressing when ijbright sunshine gave place to cloudy I' weather, which, however, was followed Iby ( rain this afternoon. ■ Drizzling rain ' has' occurred in many parts of the counl.try. ....-• | The official forecast is for westerly ■winds. The Jbarometer has a, falling tendency, but' is likely to rise in the South after from 24 to 36 hotira. As to 'the weather generally, the probability is j that it will be unsettled and cloudy, with j.raiii, and rain and hazy for a short time 'on the East Coast of both Islands.
