THE RON A' The motor-trawler Eona, which was launched at Lyttelton on Wednesday last, was taken, for a cruise around the harbour to test her engine and sailing qualities. The vesesl was taken under her own power to Diamond Harbour, and as. a strong wind -w«s blowing, the Kona, having no ballast, -was tosr.ed about considerably. Ballast was taken in at Diamond harbour, and the vessel returned to Lytteltbn" under sail and power in ten minutes. The Rons will shortly be brought to- Wellington under her own power
As reported recently rumours have been current In Sydney to the effect that the Union Company's steamer Karamu was about to be purhsised .by the Holyinan line of steamers. On the matter being submitted to tlie head office of the Union Company in Dunedin by a representative of the Bunedin. Star, the reply was that there was no foundation. whatever for the statement made in an Australian paper
