Colonel G. W. S. Patterson, officer commanding the Auckland military district, is being temporarily relieved by Colonel G. J. Smith, of' Christchuroii. After a short furlough.' Colonel Patterson will pvocoed to Apia, where he will act as Administrator of Samoa while Colonel I. Logan is on furlough. Colonel Smith, who has taken over the charge of the Auckland district, was formerly a member of the Legislative Council. He left New Zealand in June, 1916, and placed his services at the disposal of the Imperial Government. I'"or some (imo he was in charge of filing ramp.
