A CLAIM FOR TOWELS
A dispute concerning a numh«r of toytelp was heard before Mr. W. «. Riddell, S.M., v at the Magistrate* Court to-day, when Bannatyne and Hunter, Ltd., claimed the sum of £32"from J. H. RO6S., licensee of the Masonic Hotel, Dannevirke. The claim is for i 44 towek, which, jti was alleged, by the plaintiff company, duly sold and delivered. The defence v?a« a, total denial that any sale took place. The goods were ordered by, defendant's predecessor in the Masonic Hotel, and came to hand after plaintiff had taken charge. The towete Were reoently deeft-oyed by fire. In his evidence given at Dannovivke, plaintiff assorted that he had offered Is, each for the towels, but this was not accepted. "There was. never any agreement to buy, ' lie said. • "We never, came to any terms." His Worship gave judgment for pla y int I ff for the, full amount claimed,, less £14 paid into Court, and £5 Ss costs. Mr. W. L. Rothenberg appeared for the plaintiff and Mr, L. L. E., Edwards for the defendaiit. . '
