ARCHITECTS AND WAR
N.Z. INSTITUTE'S RECORD,
The part which members oPthe "New Zealand Institute of Architects have played in the prosecution of the great world war was mentioned at the annual conference of that body, which opened in Wellington this morning. The acting-chairman (Mr. C. A. Lawrence) said that 72 members of the Institute were fighting for King and country, 22 per cent, of the total membership having enlisted in various arms of the service.
It was decided that the council should express its deep sympathy with the relatives of members and students of the Institute who have fallen in the war and that their names should be recorded on the roll of honour.
It was also resolved that the distinctions won by any members or students in the war.should be recorded on the roll of honour.
In addition to the ordinary roll of honour, the Institute proposes to issue an album containing photographs of those or its members who have either given their lives for the Empire or who have won distinction on the battlefield. The album, it was stated, would aleo contain the record of each member.
The names of the members who have fallen in the war were contained in the annual report as follow :—Lieut. Georire Wilfred Callender, Pte. Andrew Dalziell Reese, Sergt. William Benyon Austen Quick, Act.-Capt. William Baldwin Busby,. Capt. Frederick Norman Marchant, Lieut. Thomas Henry Watson 2nd Lieut. Murdock Keith-M"'Leod, and Pte. Allan Stevenson.
Those who have gained military honours are :—Capt.. F. E. Greenish Military Cross; Lieut. Stanley Natusch, Military Cross; L.-Cpl. J. H. Edgeenmbe, Military Medal: Lieut Edwin Royden Wells, Military Cross.
