MOTOR MECHANICS' AND ENGINEERS' AWARD
The Arbitration Court has decided to extend the period of the Engineers' Award, as far as it concerns motor mechanics, until 28th February and explains its attitude in the following memorandum, which has now been hied: —
«r £- S cx P lamed in the memorandum to the Wellington District 'Engineers' Award ••.. -. The Court decided to strike out ti-om that award motor mechanics and their employers—namely, the proprietors of motor garages, leaving the union free to institute proceedings for a separate award m respect of this branch of the industry, Until such an award is made it is necessary to ensure that the existing rate of wages and other conditions of work of motor mechanics be retained, and for. this reason the Court has made the foregoing award.'-'
