SUDDEN DEATH OF MR. E. W. SEATON
On the Thorndon Bowling Green on Saturday afternoon, there occurred the painfully. sudden death'of Mr. E. ,W. Seaton, an old and respected member of the club. Mr. Seaton was taking part in a game of bowls in competition against the Petone Club, and soon after the tea- adjournment he was walking across the green, when he fell forward, and lay quite still. The medical attention of Dr. Pattie and Dr. Ross, ofPetone, was immediately, available, but life was found to be extinct, owing to heart failure. Dr. Pattie, ' who was Mr. Seaton's regular medical attendant, knew him to have been suffering from' heart trouble for some time past, so an enquiry into the cause of death will not be necessary: After the sad occurrence all play on the Thorndon Green was stopped for the,day, and the body of Mr. Seaton conveyed by members of the club to his residence in Molesworth.-, street.. ■ '
The late Mr. Seaton was senior partner in the firm of Seaton arid Sladdeh, civil engineers and surveyors, and was 68 years of age. The son of the late Rev. A. Seaton, of Staffordshire, England, he arrived in New Zealand When 25 years of age, practicing his profession first; in Timaru arid later in Feilding. He leaves a widow.' two sons', arid one daughter. The elder son is the associate of Mr. Justice Denniston, and the other is-Lt. Jocelyn Seaton, of the British Naval. Motor Patrol, who has }ust returned to. New Zealand on furlough after some.'strenuous" work "in Home waters. .-'"-'
