FINAL DAY
(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.— COPYRIGHT ) . MELBOURNE, 10th November, ihe weatner was fine but sultry for the final day's events of the V.R C Cup Carnival at Flemington. Tlie crowd was probably a record for the last day of the meeting, in the hopes of seeing' Biplane out with Lanius, but the Derby winner, having developed a split hoof, was withdrawn. The course was good, and the racing exciting. Results.- —
Batman Stakes, of 600 soys; special weights; one mile.—Mr. L. L. Winten's by c Pah King, by Mountain King—Poi Dance, 9 o„ 1; Modesto, 8.7, 2; Cosmos, f'.'J- Ten started. After covering two furlongs, Modesto, Pah King, and Prince Royal were leading. Modesto was first into the straight, but Pah King on the rai.'s came through and won by a neck Time, limn 40£bccFlemington Stakes, of 500 soys; for two-year-olds; six furlongs.—Air G L Stead's eh c Almoner, by Boniform— Cassock, 1; Peat, 2; Calix, 3. Twelve started. Verdun led into the course proper, but Almoner, already handy, put in a fast run, headed Verdun at the distance, and won by two lengths. Time, Imm 14|sec. y.B-C. Handicap, of 750 soys; one mile and three-quarters.—Mr J \ •Mayo's eh h The Fortune Hunter' by Flavus—Boiling, 1; Ranger, 2; Faritarie, 3. Ten started. The order to the mile post was Seigneur, Almo, Sir Amyas, The Fortune Hunter, The Toff. Eastcourt, and Fantarie. Almo'and The Toff then drew up to the leaders. At the six furlongs post The Toff was running second; then came Almo, Sir Amyao, The Fortune Hunter, and Ranger. The Toff was second into the straight,. but The Fortune Hunter and Ranger came -up very fast, the former getting the verdict by a, neck. Time, 3min 3ssc. C. B. Fisher Plate, of 1000- soys • weight-for-age; one mile and a-half.— ■Mr.- J Baron's eh h Wallace Innglass, by 'Wallace—Glass Queen, 94, 1: Cetigne, 2; Thana,. 3. Seven started. Uliana, got away after a few strides, and led past the mile post, three lengths from Cagou, Lamus, Broken Ghss, Westcourt, Cetigne, and Wallace Isinglass. , Rounding the turn Thana had a four lengths' .lead from Lanius, Cagou, and Wallace Isinglass, and maintained this advantage to the distance, where Lanius was beaten, and Cetigne was looking like the ; winner. Wallace Isingless then challenged, and won in a great finish by a, neck. Thana finished twelve lengths away. Time,, 2min 33sec.
Victoria Steeplechase," of 500 soys •' Jiree miles and ii furlong.—Mr Ap' Bowman's br g Murrangong, by The Malster-Coal Queen I; Bricks, 2; Highland Clan 3.' Eight started. After the first round Murrangong always held the lead. Then Booligal lost his rider, Tmto was pulled up and Sylvan Lass fell. Won by-fifteen lengths. Miser was the only other horse that finished. Time, ornni 19sec.
Final Handicap, of 500 soys; about one mile and a furlong.—Mr. E. E. D Clark sb ni Deneb, by The Welkinleppo, 1; -Rael Locin, 2; Rosanna, 3. Twelve started Deneb led throughout till seven furlongs from home. Satin Und was second, and then came Rosanna Perform, and Rael Locin neaithe last. Rosanna followed Deneb into the _ straight. At the distance,. Rael Loan, forging through, challenged Deneb but failed by half a'length. Time anim osec.l '
