AG-RICULTURAL PROSPECTS.

_The Minister" of' Public Works, Hon. W. i'raser, returned this morning from Dunedin, where he has been visiting the laieri Plain. The floods in May, September, and October : were, states the Minister, very disastrous, and owing to the September and October, rains 10,000 a-cree of the Plain are still under water,which is nov.r being pumped out. Evei-y endeavour will be made to" prevent, as far as practicable, a recurrence of damage in'future.. This will/ however, hjvolve considerable expenditure. . The Hon. Mr. Fraser states that he has never seen the. country in Canterbury and Otago looking better. '
