The., police are very reticent, but so far as.' 1 the public can judge there., is no definite clue to the identity or whereabouts of the murderer. Parties of police and miners are again scouring the country to-day. ' The condition of Mr. Hall is still critical. The amount ai money stolen, £3600 odd, mcluded the pay to both of the' State mines. ' . ' j 'At the inquest, commenced yesterday regarding Coulthard's death, the doctor's evidence, was taken. It showed that, the - bullet in the apex of the right lung , severed the subclavian artery. ': ?! . The two men who were arrested yes-, terday were charged with vagrancy. De- I tective. Ward said he arrested them on the Runanga-road yesterday shortly after the tragedy, and unsatisfactory answers I to the police questions led to their arrest. There was no further evidence against therri, and both were discharged.
