THE GAZA VICTORY
. . ' ADDITIONAL DETAILS. - (AUSIRAUAN-NEW ZEALAND CABLB ASSOCIATION.) (Received November 10, 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, 9th November. ' Mr. W. T. Massey writes:—The attack on Gaza, was launched at midnight, from two sides, accompanied by intense artillery fire. ■ The British troops who routed the enemy on AHmuntar Hill entered the town at daybreak. Others advanced from the sea side, and from the north, and the cavalry pursued the disorganised enemy. Irish troops captured Harlra, formerly the centre of the Turkish Gaza-Beersheba line. • t The comparatively slight resistance at Gaza was due to the grand success of the previous day's battle on the right, where enormous booty was taken. The capture of Gaza, with its tremendously strong works, was .thus accomplished by first, smashing the eastern line of defences, threatening Gaza on the flank. Our losses, were comparatively slight.
