Lt.-Col. Barclay, who is now in England engaged in Army Medical Corps work, has resigned his position as superintendent of the Waimate .Hospital, which position he has held for twentyfive years Mr. James Raynham, a veteran of the Maori War, has died at the Auokland Hospital, aged 82 years. He was born in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, England, in 1834, and came to New Zealand when 29 yeaTs of age, as one of the 43rd Regiment. He took part in various fights with the Maoris, including the historic one at Gate Pa. i Messrs. Baldwin and Rayward, Patent!
