AMATEUR PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY
The first meeting of the Amateur Photographic Society in, the new dubrooih was. presided over "by Mr. P. N. Denton. Mr. E. J. Robson gave an' interesting lecture on "Lenses, their Uses and Manufacture," illustrating his points with exhibits of glass in various stages of its manufacture. The exhibits were kindly lent by Mr. Spear, Willis-street. The -lecturer was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. 16 was announced that three members—Messrs. Denton, Johnson, and Robson—were successful competitors at the Palmerston Show. The resignation of the secretary, Mr. C. M. Turnbull, who is going into camp, was accepted with regret. Mr. Morris was elected secretary for the ensuing term. An outing was arranged for at Elaywards. The next competition will be "Portraiture," on Silst November. The results of the "Landscape" competition will be announced on the same date.
