DRUIDISM

The monthly meeting of the Royal Arch Chapter, U.A.0.D., was held in its new room in the Wellington Town Hall this week, and was largely attended by representatives from lodges of the Order in the Wellington district. The Royal Arch-Druid, Bro. J. Norris, presided. The annual balancesheet, submitted by Bro. W. Crombie, tho R.A,' secretary, showed satisfactory financial ' progress, and it was unanimously adopted. A number of past of^ ficers from city, suburban, and country lodges attended and took their respective degrees. Considerable interest was attached to the report and results in con-' nection with the recent ritual competition. The judges, Bros. M'Laughlin, Chapman,-and Bishop, awarded pride of place to the Coronation Lodge, Newtown, with 315£ points; Pride of Brooklyn Lodge, Brooklyn, second honours, with 256 points; and the Melroso Lodge, Kilbirnie, third, with 23,4£ points. The prize, a handsome silver-mounted shield, was keenly contested foe, and the Coronation Lodge,, in securing the coveted honour, scored its second consecutive win. A proposal was introduced by Bro. Johnston, P.D.P., to adopt into the Order a superannuation fund for all financial members of friendly societies. It provides that on reaching the age of 65 a member's contributions to the sick and funeral fund shall cease, and that ho .still be entitled to full benefits. After able explanation the debate was 'further adjourned to the next meeting of the Chapter in December.
