WELLINGTON-CENTRE'S^ ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Wellington Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association was held last evenling, Mr. T. February m the form of a carnival, and, despite the fact that the centre was faced -with expenses of over £150, a profit wae shown amounting to £6 8s 7d, which was duly ktnded to the Wellington Returned Soldiers Club. The financial success of the carnival was mostly due to donations and concessions received, and the thanks of the committee are especial'lv tendered to tire Railway Department Education Department, City Corporation' New Zealand Picture Supplies, Eastbourne Borough Council, and the numerous patrons of swimming, who are ever ready to assist the sport. The swimming at the gathering was of a very high order, and the championship winners were as i follows:—Girls, 50yds,-,Miss Bachelor, Chratchurch, 1.; Miss E. Watson 2 I 100 yds, Miss E. Watson, Wellington 1--Miss Bachelor, 2. Boys, 100 yds, H. yon Stunner, Auckland, 1; J. Johnston, 2 440 yds, H. yon Stunner, 1; Hogg, 2. A conference of Dominion delegates was held on 20th February by the New Zealand Council, to discuss fully the matter of school swimming, and remits we*© made to the association. The centre [ congratulated the conference on having its recommendations re youths' championships adopted by the Council of the New Zealand Association. These competitions should be the means of considerably encouraging the youths of tie Dominion to closely follow the eporfc, as j up to the present there had been no distraction made between, youths "and seniors. The local school championships were held prior to the New Zealand I meeting, and resulted as follows:—Girls, Eleanor Watson 1, Rita Fullford 2.1 Boys, H. Couzens 1, E. Robinson 2. Quite a feature of the season's operations was the holding of the Duthie Cup teams' race, which event was planed at the centre's disposal by the Wellington i Club, and was a most attractive item' at the championship meeting. The winners were once again the Clyde-quay School team.- Two new clubs, Island Bay and R.L.L.S. Ladies (Competitive Branch) affiliated last season and, formed a welcome addition to the centres membership.. The election of officers for the ensuing season resulted as follows :—President, Mr. T. Ronayne, 1.5.0.; vice-presidents, Messrs. A. Levy and J. P. Maxwell; consul, Mr. T. Shields; chairman, Mr. H. C. W. Blick; secretary, Mr. A. W. Farnall; treasurer, Mr. A. H. Stevenson; delegate to the N.Z.A.S.A., Mr. Baiter O'Neil.
It was decided that, the rule re the executive be suspendted for the season, and that the executive consist of one delegate from each club.
