While giving his dog a swim by the Taranaki-ctreet wharf last evening, Mr. William Hamilton, who ia employed at the State Coal Department, slipped into the water. Hie cries attracted a small boy, who was instrumental in securing the services of l*olice-Sergeants WiHcocks and Fitzpatrick. The latter succeeded in rescuing the man, who was found hanging from a wire rope underneath the wharf.-
Several Auckland institutions, 6tates the New Zealand Herald, benefit under the terms of the -will of the late Mr. Alexander R. D. Watson, formerly of Devonport, who died in Sydney on sth October.
