THE HOSPITAL SHIPS
LATEST BALANCE-SHEETS Now that the reconditioning of the two New Zealand hospital ships has once again been completed, and all the accounts in connection therewith having been settled, the' Department of Internal Affairs has handed to His Excellency the Governor-General a statement, which he desires shall be published. The receipts total £61,206 Is Bd, and after meeting the expeuses there is a balance of £6642 Os Id in hand. Following are the items of expenditure : —
As explained in previous balance-sheets, items (d) and (c) have been repaid by the patriotic societies of the four centres, and this sum is. included in the total receipts. His Excellency desires, on behalf of the subscribers, to express his thanks to the Treasury for auditing 'the accounts, to the Department of Internal Affairs for keeping the accounts, and to the Defence Department, the Munitions Board, and the Board of Agriculture for kindly undertaking to arrange the contracts.
