RETURNED MEN

ARRIVAL IN WELLINGTON.

A contingent of 160 returned soldiers arrived from Auckland by special train yesterday afternoon. They were met at Thorndon Station by the Mayor of Wellington (Mr. J. P. Luke, C.M.G.),who extended them a cordial welcome home, and subsequently treated those who chose to go to "high tea" at Godber's. The Southern portion left for the South in the evening. - This afternoon a further contingent of 300 odd returned soldiers is also arriving by train from Auckland. The train is expected to arrive some time after 3 o'clock. This contingent is also being met and welcomed by the Mayor on behalf of the city.
