Reese Bros., of Christchurch, who purchased the wreck of the steamer Opouri at Greymoutb, has succeeded in salving prac "tieally everything of value from the wreck, including the engines and boilers. Tho operations were completed -without a hitch. Cap* tain H. Munro, of the Canterbury Shipping Company, it will be remembered, purchased the wreck for £1000 and sold it to Rees» Bros. The latter were the original owners of the Oponri when she met with disaster.The Orepuki belongs to the same firm An interesting story is told of the latest attempt to salve the valuable copper cargo of the Pewabic, a vessel which foundered on the 9th August, 1885, seven miles oil Thunder Bay Island, Lake Superior. A Toledo diver has descended over 100 ft below the lake's surface and located the steamer's hulk, and operations for getting tho cargo out have been commenced. At the present market prices the copper which is in the Pewabic is worth close on 1,000,000 dollars. On Sunday next the Corinna. is doo at Wellington from Dunedin f via ports, and will sail the same day for Napier and New Plymonth ,
