WAR PICTURES
The new series of vs'ar pictures, "Sons of the; Empire," was shown again in. the Town Hall last evening, and met with a warm reception, particularly the sections picturing the New Zealand and Australian troops and British regiments whose 'names are household words. The "tanks" figured largely in the pictures, and were shown in a great many remarkable attitudes and performances, with vivid clearness and sometimes etartling effects. Illustrations of the flying services, naval and rniHtary, were also especially good, and included some very impressive views photographed from great altitudes. A great part of the ■films deals with the process of attacking the German positions, and the spectator is given a very realistic impression of the work of the artillery, as well as of the way an attack is carried out. The season will conclude on Saturday, so that opportunities for seeing these very fine pictures are few. I The V.M.0.A., which is "showing the ftlans, is devoting the whole proceeds to patriotic purposes. A matinee is being held this afternoon, and another will be given on.Saturday, when children will be admitted >at hajf-price.
