WAR FUNDS COLLECTING COMMITTEE
A combined meeting of 'tile 'Inner Executive, Direct Appeal Committee, and conveners os> of the sub-committees, in connection with Our Day Red. Cross.Appeal and. Blind Soldiers' ..and .Sailors' Fund, was held last evening in the Red Cross Roomsr Mercer-street; The Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke, C.M.G.)' presided over a very enthusiastic meeting*. Reports of the various sub-committees were presented, showing ithat. the energetic'\fe>rk which was'being done ensured ,ithe various "days" -being & great success. ..' A report/"was, received.. from, the cbra-* mittee. in regard to Paddy's;.. Market, which is to be held in the Totira Hall on 28th and 29tli September. About twenty stalls have already been applied for and allotted) including:—Flowers, .fruit, second-hand clothesj.. second-hand ■ goods including jewellery/ silver, arid pewterware, honle-made cakeS, vdoll stall, refreshment ' stall,, hot pies and coffee, producej meat, fish and chips stall) and many other*. .; ;. •' ■'....... The. Entertainment Committee also reported that various ..entertainments,, lectures, etc, had ' been' arranged • for* arid dates were now being' fixed." Mrs. Luke reported that she Jiad called a meeting of this Citizens' Service- League- for Wednesday next, with a view of soliciting further help for ith'e worthy cause. A valuable" picture, valued at £100 guineas, has been .presented through, the Ladies' Catholic Knitting Guild to be disposed of by art union. The picture is now oil view at the Bristol Piano Company. The sale Of 'ticket* Will be} in the hands of the Ladies' Catholic Knitting Guild.
