SUBMARINE IN AMERICAN WATERS

NEW YORK, 17th September. An incoming steamer reports picking up a wireless message stating that a, submarine had been seen in American wafers. The U-boatj was described as being 300 ft long, with two periscopes, and carrying guns fore and aft. She screened herself with smoke before disappearing. The statement is not; confirmed officiaHv.
