THE CYGNET CASE
Respecting the case of the Cygnet, held up at Lyttelton, the 1 Christchurch Sun reports that the trouble arose owing to the fact that two Wellington companies, rather than suffer the loss caused by their - vessels being laid up, had granted the demand for these two-men watches. If the Cygnet were a bigger vessel (the agents stated) it might be possible to grant the request, but under the circumstances it was impossible. The Cygnet was engaged upon the run to Kaikoura, which place'was at present isolated on account of the floods. There were about twenty passengers and a number of motor-cars awaiting shipment at Kaikoura- If the present attitude is persisted in the agents will put the John Anderson, which is at present engaged in trawling, on the Akaroa run, but the Kaikoura trip must be held up, as the? John Anderson is not articled to run there.
