AN UNPROMISING OUTLOOK
Small comfort for a good week-end v contained in the forecast issued to-day by the Dominion Meteorologist. A slight shower fell this morning in the city, and changeable weatner haa prevailed generally. The foret-Hst ib fur increasing haze and cloudiness, with much.mist and fog in parts, and rain lolloping generally. Moderate to strong westerly winds' are probable, veering \o north and then increasing generally. The glass will fall everywhere soon.
In connection with the big effort to raise funds for trench comforts for the men at the front, a street campaign was held in Lambton-quay at noon to-day, under the auspices of the Commercial Travellers' Association. The- tra-vellers are taking an active interest in Miss Campbell's production of "The Magic Carpet," to be given at the Grand Opera. House on 15th, 17th, and 18th September, in aid of the fun, and to-day Mr. Arthur Jacobs auctioned box seats from a decorated lorry. The proceedings were enlivened by the Trentham Band.
